Woo hoo!!!! Great news for my great sister!! My parents are probably going back to Forsyth this week so Mel will need visitors!! Thank you everyone for everything you have done and are continuing to do for her!!
Auntie Heather wants nothing more than to be there with her sister. Hoping to be there on Friday (weather permitting) to spend at least a couple of days with my precious sister and nieces and nephews. Very, very, very very appreciative and thankful to everyone who has helped, encouraged and motivated Mel. She is my inspiration and has ALWAYS BEEN my role model. I could never ask for a better sister/friend and thank everyone for seeing the "good" in my sister and helping. If I could give her the world.... I would.

Updates on Melanie
Melanie's parents left on Thursday...we appreciate their help with Melanie during this time. With that being said and the start of school on the 4th, we will need some people to come and spend some time with her on January 4th, 5th and 6th. I should be flixible enough to work with everyone's schedule if certain times work better than others. Please feel free to call and schedule a time...we will need someone to start around 8:30 a.m. for EACH of those THREE mornings.
Each day is a little better...the pain is less (until PT/OT arrive) and her mobility is getting improving. This is more a precautionary step...
Thanks again and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Great news...Melanie's checkup went great today. The femur and the hip look good; still no weight on that leg for at least a couple months. Her right wrist/hand has been "freed"...no cast AND her right hand only has a brace. The pins remain and she will have another visit in ONE month if everything goes well.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers...things seem to be headed in the right direction. Please keep close attention to the calendar below once the New Year rolls around; Melanie may need guest to show up and visit throughout the day.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Merry Christmas to all...and to all a good night:)!
Melanie's progress is slow, but positive for the most part. Some days go really well and others not so much...however, that's pretty much how life goes. Her pain has dropped dramatically and she has the capability to move around the house. She was really excited to see everyone at the elementary Christmas concert last Tuesday; it was a long day, but quite rewarding.
Melanie will be going to a follow-up next week in Butte and we are hoping for an A+! We will keep you posted. Please have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
So sorry about the tardiness in posting Melly's updates; tried once a couple of nights ago and nearly deleted the entire site:(!
We got Melanie home yesterday around 4:00 p.m. Her series of surgeries should be over for quite some time. Each recovery out of anesthesia presented a unique and "weird" scenario...bascially, Melanie told the doctors "no more". To our suprise, she was provided the opportunity to go home yesterday and took EVERY chance to prove herself capable of going home. She has good color, no fever and the pain is relatively managable. Even better yet, her capability to move around the house is 10X better than her first time home.
We will be able to enjoy the comforts of home over the next couple of weeks as school goes on break. We will develop a "plan" as we approach the New Year and how we intend to work out January, February and March. She will not be able to bear any weight on the right leg for 3 months...
We thank you for all of your support...at your convenience, please feel free to come and visit Melanie (perhaps a call in advance would be appropriate).
HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS SEASON!
